Dr. Ellen Warner

Dr. Ellen Warner MD, FRCPC, FACP, M.Sc.

Dr. Warner is a medical oncologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto and a Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Warner obtained her medical degree at the University of Toronto. Since 1993 she has been on staff as a medical oncologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where her clinical work and research have been devoted exclusively to breast cancer.

Dr. Warner is the principal investigator of a study which has demonstrated the marked superiority of MRI over mammography for screening women at risk for hereditary breast cancer.

In 2008 Dr. Warner launched a first-of-its kind in Canada, clinical and research program (PYNK: Breast Cancer Program for Young Women) for women ages 40 and under newly diagnosed with breast cancer. For many years, Dr. Warner has been a passionate advocate for the role of a healthy diet and regular exercise in lowering the risk of developing cancer decreasing treatment side effects, and reducing the risk of cancer recurrence.
