November 18, 1987 – April 5, 2024
Born in Montreal, Quebec, son of Peter and the late Tanya (Tammy) Manuge. It is with great sadness that we inform family and friends of Jason’s passing in his 37th year after a courageous two-year bout with cancer. Jason was a loving son, spouse, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, friend and colleague. The son of a soldier, Jason got to live in several communities across Canada and Europe which gave him a well-rounded perspective of people.
Jason attended St. Lawrence College to study Marketing and Business Communications where he excelled and graduated with distinction. His career spanned across a few Kingston-based tech companies landing at DocuPet as Product Manager.
Jason enjoyed spending time outdoors hiking and camping. He enjoyed all things technology related. He also played guitar which he learned with help from his grandfather Eldridge. Jason loved spending time with close friends and family to enjoy good food and drinks. He was an avid cook and took interest in trying new recipes. He learned most of his cooking skills from his mother.
During the last 2 years, Jason took on the role of advocate in the cancer space in a major way. He created “CancerCanuck” where he blogged about his journey and bravely shared his experiences as his disease progressed. He attended and led peer chats hosted by Young Adult Cancer Canada. Jason joined Kingston Health Sciences Centre’s Patient and Family Advisory Committee. He attended and presented at the Health E-Matters Conference in Toronto. Jason also found a major supportive community in the Man Up To Cancer group. He attended many chats and made connections with individuals across Canada, US and beyond.
Jason will be dearly missed by his spouse Shannon Ruddy, cats Ruby and Frankie, Shannon’s family, his father Pete and many extended family members.
