Our Mission:
Debbie’s Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer (DDF) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about stomach cancer; advancing funding for research; and providing education and support internationally to patients, families, and caregivers. DDF seeks as its ultimate goal to make the cure for stomach cancer a reality!
Patient Support
DDF offers many stomach cancer support services through our free Patient Resource Education Program (PREP). Upon receiving a stomach cancer diagnosis, patients, families, and caregivers complete a Resource Inquiry Form. They are then directed to a Mentor who can help them understand the diagnosis, staging, treatment options, clinical trials, side effect management, research, management of the disease, and more including connecting them with the world’s leading stomach cancer doctors so patients can receive the best care available. Mentors share their stories, tips, advice, and concerns with each other and with their PREP contacts, so they will not be alone in their fight. You can complete the Resource Inquiry Form at http://www.debbiesdream.org/portal/resource-inquiry-form.
DDF also offers a unique Stomach Cancer Support Community which connects patients, families, friends, and caregivers for support and inspiration right on our website at http://www.debbiesdream.org/portal/support-community.
Patient Education
Debbie’s Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer is committed to helping patients, family members, caregivers, and healthcare professionals access vital stomach cancer information from the world’s leading stomach cancer thought leaders. Therefore, DDF holds a free Stomach Cancer Education Symposium each year which includes lectures on all aspects of a stomach cancer diagnosis. DDF also hosts other informational webcasts throughout the year on various topics affecting stomach cancer patients. The lectures are available year round at http://www.debbiesdream.org/portal/lecture-library.
We also have extensive Stomach Cancer 101 informational content, a blog, and survivor stories for inspiration on our www.DebbiesDream.org website.
Advocacy
Debbie’s Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer advocates for increased federal funding for stomach cancer research. 80% of stomach cancer is diagnosed at a late stage so the prognosis is grim as the Stage IV five year survival expectancy is 4%. More awareness, research, and treatments need to be available.
Research
Debbie’s Dream Foundation directly funds cancer research to invest in progress toward our ultimate goal of curing stomach cancer.
