All proceeds will benefit CCSN’s initiative “Cancer Survivor to Financial Survivor”.
Imagine this scenario: you’ve just been diagnosed with cancer. After the initial shock of that wanes, you start to discuss treatment options with your doctor and family. You have a plan. You’ve got this! But then a whole new set of questions arise:
- What are my employment rights?
- Will I lose my job?
- How long will my coverage last?
- Are there government programs to assist me through loss of income?
- If I need a caregiver, how will I pay for that?
- The prescriptions are so expensive – how will I pay for them?
Sounds scary, right? The overall financial burden on cancer survivors exceeds their earning losses. For example, the estimated the average monthly out-of-pocket costs related to cancer treatment (e.g. drugs, devices, etc.) for patients with cancer in Ontario is at $1000!
Navigating all these factors can be overwhelming for a person in treatment. That is why we are expanding our Cancer Survivor to Financial Survivor section of our website. Our goal is to provide as much information as possible – all in one place – for patients & survivors across the country. The funds raised at this golf tournament will help us do so.
