This event is put on by the Save your Skin Foundation.
“From March 1-3, 2024, Save Your Skin Foundation hosts the 5th A Viking’s Challenge across Canada, fundraising for melanoma and skin cancer patients. Founded in 2020 by melanoma survivor Chris Isfeld, who, despite late-stage diagnosis and partial paralysis, ran 30km on frozen Lake Winnipeg, raising $20,000. Since its inception, A Viking’s Challenge has raised $50,000 for skin cancer patients across Canada.
Open to all since 2021, Chris, now facing a new health challenge, continues to display resilience. This event provides a hybrid experience with the option of virtual tickets and in-person attendance. Similar to previous years, you can pledge kilometers and opt to run, swim, jog, or partake in various activities at your own pace. We’ll keep a running tally of the pledged kilometers and aim to “cross” Lake Winnipeg as many times as possible.
Whether you’ll be in Gimli, Manitoba for the in-person race on March 2nd or opt to participate virtually, register today and start training like a viking today to help us raise funds for skin cancer patients across Canada!”
