
The purpose of this research project is to explore patients’, caregivers’, and healthcare professionals’ approach to and management of nutrition during colorectal cancer treatment.
To be eligible to participate in the study, individuals must meet the following criteria:
- Adults 18 years or older;
- Living in Canada;
- Patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer within the past five (5) years who have underwent or are currently undergoing treatment;
OR
caregivers of a patient described above;
OR
healthcare professionals (such as dietitians, nutritionists, oncologists, nurses, family practitioners, PT/OTs) who provide care to patients with colorectal cancer;
- Able to provide virtual consent.
The study involves an online survey questionnaire. Participants will be asked questions about their experience, knowledge, and challenges related to colorectal cancer and nutrition management. Should you choose to participate, we invite you to share the attached survey recruitment materials by email and/or social media. A printable recruitment poster is also available to share at your organization.
This research will take about six (6) months to complete. We wish to survey 385 participants.
Information learned from this study may guide the continuous advocacy for the implementation of standardized guidelines for assessing and managing nutrition in oncology care in Canada in the future.
This project is in collaboration with Colorectal Cancer Canada and will be recruiting people across all provinces and territories in Canada.
