National Cancer Wellness Awareness Day

One in two Canadians is expected to develop cancer in their lifetime and most don’t know about cancer wellness programs that can help them live well with cancer.

WHAT IS CANCER WELLNESS AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Cancer wellness is a whole-person approach that provides people living with cancer a source of overall well-being that meets all their needs. It addresses their physical, spiritual, emotional, informational, social, systemic, and practical needs. This all encompassing approach complements traditional medicine and allows individuals to live well with cancer.

Cancer wellness also gives people a sense of control and actively involves them in their care. It encourages them to make informed decisions and take the necessary steps to improve their well-being.

WHY HOLD A NATIONAL CANCER WELLNESS AWARENESS DAY ?

National Cancer Wellness Awareness Day is an initiative that sheds light on the distressing statistic that 1 in 2 Canadians are expected to develop cancer in their lifetime. Most individuals are not aware of the valuable services provided by cancer wellness centres.

By holding a national awareness day, we hope to reach a broader audience, to educate them about the availability of cancer wellness centres, and encourage them to access the support and resources that can improve their well-being.

If you would like information about cancer wellness available in your community, call the Living Well With Cancer Network at (514) 695-9355 (Montreal area) or 1-833-274-9355 (toll free).
