The following press release is from the Colorectal Cancer Resource & Action Network (CCRAN).
The Canadian Cancer Society has announced its support for lowering the colorectal cancer screening age to 45.
CCRAN welcomes this important step forward.
Since 2020, we have been working to raise awareness of the rising rates of early age onset colorectal cancer and advocating for earlier screening across Canada.
Colorectal cancer is now considered the deadliest cancer for individuals under age 50, yet it is also one of the most preventable, treatable, and curable cancers when detected early through screening.
Lowering the screening age could help detect cancers earlier and improve outcomes for Canadians.
