The Canadian Cancer Society Releases 2020 Cancer Projections

The Canadian Cancer Society recently released their 2020 projections for cancer diagnoses and cancer related deaths in Canada. In 2020, an estimated 225 800 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer, and 83 300 will die from the disease. This comes with the fact that nearly 1 in 2 Canadians are expected to receive a diagnosis in their lifetime.

Proposed Changes to Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID)

Medical assistance in dying (MAID) became legal in Canada in June 2016. Canada’s Criminal Code now exempts doctors and nurse practitioners who provide, or help to provide, medical assistance in dying. The government recently proposed changes to MAID in response to feedback from Canadians.
