Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement where people around the world come together in support of the causes most important to them. Canadian Cancer Survivor Network is proud to participate in this year’s Giving Tuesday on November 30th. Your donations help us to amplify the voices of cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers, and to shape policy change so that the challenges they face are addressed.
This year’s Giving Tuesday and the upcoming holiday season come in the wake of a time of crisis for cancer patients and survivors in Canada. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused widespread delays in critical cancer care – and CCSN’s surveys on the impact of COVID-19 on cancer patients showed how severe the consequences have been. Even a year and a half after the pandemic began, surgeries remain backlogged, cancers are being diagnosed late, and delays in treatment are causing worse outcomes for patients. Cancer patients, caregivers, and people awaiting diagnosis have been left feeling “thrown under the bus”, as one respondent to CCSN’s surveys on COVID-19 and cancer wrote.
In all of our work – our meetings with politicians, our webinars, our information and research – we seek to raise up the voices of cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers. By supporting our work, you help us to bring the needs of the cancer community to the fore as the pandemic continues.
