The Honourable Allan Rock to be Honorary Chair for 2017 PCCNO Conference!
FOR RELEASE
Prostate Cancer Canada Network Ottawa (PCCNO) is pleased to announce that its 2017 conference “Prostate Cancer – Discover the Future” will be held at the Ottawa Convention and Event Centre, 200 Coventry Road, Ottawa on September 15 – 16, 2017.
We are delighted that the Honourable Allan Rock has agreed to be Honorary Chair for our conference. A trial lawyer by profession, he spent a decade in Canada’s Parliament as Attorney General of Canada, Minister of Health and then Minister of Industry. He served as Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations before joining the University of Ottawa as President in 2008. Mr. Rock’s distinguished career and own personal experience in dealing with prostate cancer is noteworthy. His support of the conference is greatly appreciated.
“I am delighted to serve as the Honorary Chair of this conference. I congratulate the Prostate Cancer Canada Network and its partners for presenting such a timely and valuable event. Those of us whose lives have been affected by prostate cancer know that by increasing awareness and understanding of this disease, we are taking the first important step towards reducing its impact on Canadian men and their families. The conference will draw attention to prostate cancer, encourage vigilance in its detection and broaden our understanding of treatment options. These are major contributions to the cause. Once again, congratulations, and sincere thanks to the Network for its important work.” – Allan Rock
This event will be a showcase for the progress being made in prostate cancer treatment and new developments for treating this disease in the future. It will:
- provide a forum to enrich prostate cancer practices and innovations;
- showcase leading practices and their success;
- discuss types of innovation and new technologies that are transforming prostate cancer treatment
The PCCNO is developing this conference in collaboration with Dr. Chris Morash, Medical Director of The Ottawa Hospital’s Prostate Cancer Assessment Centre and a team of urology/oncology specialists who are playing an important role in developing the conference program.
As planning progresses, the PCCNO is reaching out to other allied organizations whose involvement and support will help the organizers develop a rich program that will prove exciting and invite stimulating conversation. A corporate sponsorship program is available to invite interested businesses and individuals to support this event.
