2021 Canadian Cancer Statistics Report Has Been Published
Earlier this month the Canadian Cancer Society published it’s annual Canadian Cancer Statistics Report. After a one year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the report has been released in early November with many positive findings. Dense Breasts Canada, an awareness and advocacy organization dedicated to seeing optimal breast cancer screening for women, has published a report outlining the findings of their latest national, anonymous, online survey that took place during the Summer of 2021. Despite ever-increasing rates of immunization against COVID-19, the pandemic is by no means over – least of all for cancer patients. CCSN’s third survey on the impact of COVID-19 on cancer care showed that even over a year after the WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic, cancer patients across Canada were still waiting for delayed appointments and procedures. CCSN has met with politicians from eight provinces in our series of Pan-Canadian Virtual Action Weeks to share the results of our third survey, with the goal of ensuring that the needs of cancer patients during the pandemic are not overlooked.
