The Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) covers all necessary services provided by licensed physicians, dental services in hospital, and an eye examination once a year for persons under 20 and those 65 and over. Since October 1st, 2009, OHIP now covers Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanning, a health service available to some cancer and cardiac patients.
Ontario’s drug programs include six core programs to help residents cover the costs of prescription medication. Please click here for more information on the Ontario Public Drug Programs.
