Drug approval in Canada

Healthcare in Canada is administered and delivered by the provinces and territories, with certain exceptions. In addition, Canada’s drug approval processes are complex and sometimes difficult to understand.

The complexity of the drug approval system leads to delays in access to drugs as well as uneven access to drugs from province to province, including cancer drugs. This often prevents patients from getting the drugs they need when they need them.
