There is no cancer specialist care in Nunavut. Most people who require cancer care will travel under the Ottawa-Baffin Island program. This program allows patients to travel three hours by plane to Ottawa and receive care at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Care Centre. The cost of travel may be covered if care has been recommended by a physician.
More information on medical travel eligibility and criteria can be found at the Nunavut Department of Health and Social Services website.
