The Ontario Society for Health and Fitness is happy to announce a new professional development opportunity for Winter 2017. On behalf of the Lung Association – Ontario, OSHF is hosting a special one-day workshop introducing the technique(s) of Motivational Interviewing for health behaviour change. The session will include an overview of the Association's "Quit & Get Fit" program, designed to help fitness practitioners permanently stop their clients and peers from smoking.
The Quit & Get Fit (Q&GF) program incorporates proven smoking cessation strategies into a community-based fitness environment. Research has shown that physical activity can reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms during a quit attempt and can also mitigate potential post-quit weight gain.
