The Queen’s University Arts and Science Undergraduate Society (ASUS) Orientation Week Committee consists of Queen’s undergraduate students dedicated to welcoming the Class of 2025 to their new home at Queen’s! Along with planning both in-person and virtual Orientation events, ASUS Orientation proudly partners with the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) to raise funds and awareness for the organization in the Queen’s and general Kingston community. In previous years, the committee has raised over $100,000 for CCS. Although Covid-19 has provided several challenges, such as a fully remote 2020-2021 academic year, the committee has continued to run Covid-safe fundraisers, awareness initiatives and plan Orientation events to highlight the work CCS does in the community. ASUS Orientation aims to raise $30,000 this year through fundraising throughout the year and into Orientation Week.
All proceeds will go towards funding local Kingston initiatives such as the Wheels of Hope program, which provides rides for people who need transportation to and from their cancer treatments and vital cancer research for pediatric brain cancer at The Sick Kids Hospital.
Remote Orientation Week will be from August 30th-September 4th, and the in-person components will be September 11th, 12th, 18th, and 19th.
