The Hereditary Gastric Cancer Symposium, hosted by the U.S. National Institutes of Health at Frederick, has been newly rescheduled for April 2022. It will focus on diffuse gastric cancer (both hereditary and non-hereditary), one of the two main types of gastric cancer (the other being intestinal). Gastric cancer in general is under-researched, despite being a leading cause of death globally; diffuse gastric cancer, in turn, is especially under-researched, as well as difficult to detect and to treat.
This symposium will bring together experts from a variety of fields to share their knowledge of the current state of research for diffuse gastric cancer and hereditary diffuse gastric cancer. There will also be discussion of patient-oriented themes such as advocacy and clinical trial participation.
The NCI encourages clinicians, researchers, patients, and advocates to attend.
