The webinar will provide a broad conceptual blueprint of federal and provincial/territorial public health policy structures  across Canada, describing the legal framework, government responsibility centres and their mandates for treatment access, with reference to specific opportunities for patient engagement.

This is a primer for attendees attending the November 15-16 Drug Pricing Policy Summit and for others who would like to have a review of these systems for their interest.


Presenter Information:
Louise Binder is a lawyer who has been involved in informing the development of health policy and systemic treatment access practices from a patient perspective for more than 20 years. She is presently Health Policy Consultant for the Canadian Cancer Survivor Network.


Sabrina Hanna is the Executive Director of the Save Your Skin Foundation, a Canadian based patient  advocacy group dedicated to skin cancer. Advocating on behalf of patients to promote an increasing awareness of melanoma and its treatment, Save Your Skin Foundation offers clear, qualified information across Canada.  Sabrina works to bring accountability to process’ directly impacting patients’ lives and to facilitating education and preventative action programs within the organization.

Antonella Scali has been working as a Policy Analyst with the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario (SSO) for over two years. In this role, Antonella supports SSO’s public policy analysis and initiatives in areas such as access to mental health care and supports, including access to medications, justice and mental health and income security.  In this role Antonella is involved in public engagement, education and advocacy for access to mental health care and has acted as a designated representative for cases before the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. Antonella has a master’s degree in social work and has extensive clinical experience providing mental health crisis intervention and support.
