Cambridge Memorial Hospital: Patient & Family Advisory Council
Patient and Family Advisors make recommendations that influence and support Cambridge Memorial Hospital’s goal to provide an exceptional experience for patients and their families. Advisors are patients or family members who have experienced care, ideally within the last two years. They are reliable, committed and show concern for more than one issue or agenda beyond personal experience.
The Patient and Family Advisory Council has:
- Helped shape important patient communication (parking, signage, information, etc.);
- Reviewed hospital policies and procedures;
- Advocated for free Wi-Fi in Emergency wait areas; and
- Added the patient perspective with decisions around the interprofessional model of care initiative.
The advisor ensures the patient and family experience is reflected in all services and policies and is committed to patient centred care and continuous improvement.
Meetings are held monthly or at the call of the chair. The council may determine to not meet during certain periods of the year. Meetings are approximately two hours in length.
At a minimum, you will likely volunteer about 4 hours per month. Once accepted, the membership term is two years, renewable for a maximum of 3 terms (6 years).
