Kingston General Hospital/Hôpital Hotel Dieu: Patient and Family Advisory Council

Patient Experience Advisors help the hospital understand what matters most to patients and families and are part of the conversation about how to provide excellent outpatient care. Advisors may participate in the Patient & Family Council, take on public speaking to help educate others about patient and family-centered care, work on special hospital projects, attend staff orientation, or participate in committees.

The Patient and Family Advisory Council are composed of twelve former patients or family members of patients who have received care, plus four staff and a physician. Patient Experience Advisors are members of key service-based and corporate committees, including the Planning and Performance Committee, the Patient Flow Taskforce, and the Patient Quality and Safety Steering Committee.

There are many active positions and short term committees across the organization where Patient Experience Advisors are partnering with staff to improve the patient experience.

Patients or family members who have received care at the Kingston General Hospital/Hôpital Hotel Dieu in the last five years are eligible to apply.

Special qualifications are not needed to be an advisor. All training needed is provided.
